In the Grand Est, as in many other regions, the economic and demographic pressure of the metropolises spills over onto peri-urban and rural territories. Small municipalities within their sphere of influence are deeply affected by the transformation of their built fabric and way of life. Urban sprawl onto arable land, intensive farming practices, the emptying of village centres, the loss of social ties and ever-longer commutes are all symptoms of subordination to metropolitan hubs. All in all, the projects aim to give spatial form to landscape, architectural and urban approaches serving the ecological transition of these territories under influence.
