Geneva: Metropolitan constellation

Stefano Boeri, Michel Desvigne, Pier Paolo Tamburelli, Klaas De Rycke et Rawad Choubassi

resilience – adaption – sustainable mobility – public spaces – public figures

Stefano Boeri’s team considers the Greater Geneva as a set of machines with more or less complex cogs (CERN, the United Nations, the airport, the Léman Express, etc.) and functioning thanks to the involvement of various populations. Moreover, the agglomeration has long been a laboratory of avant-garde ideas; the team refers to the Reformation, the Enlightenment, the rise of post-war diplomacy, etc. The agglomeration should rediscover this innovative force to develop its resilience in areas such as the urban climate, the use of local resources (circularity principle in water and waste management), mobility behaviours and public spaces — the latter being designed as anchor points for the cross-border identity.
