Whilst most cities rely solely on technological innovation to decarbonise transport, meeting the Paris Agreement targets requires simultaneous action on modal shift and the reduction of motorised travel. This session examines the political and social barriers to this transition, particularly the inequalities that certain measures may create, and explores how spatial planning can create the conditions for a way of life that is less dependent on motorised transport.
