Bernardo Secchi day 2016

The city of the rich and the city of the poor

The Braillard Architects Foundation (FBA) organized the Bernardo Secchi Study Day with the Laboratory of Urbanism (Lab-U) of EPFL and the Geneva Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID). The Day took place as part of the FBA’s research and culture programme The Eco-Century Project®, in connection with World Habitat Day (October 6th, 2016) and a few weeks before the World Habitat III Conference (Quito, October 17th-20th, 2016). It brought together researchers, doctoral students, practitioners and city decision-makers to question the relationships between social equality/inequality, ecological sustainability and the spatial quality of urban territories around three points:

  • Sustainable and inclusive economy: what are its interactive links with the built environment?
  • Eco-responsible governance: how can architectural and urban space become a strategic field of application?
  • Urban age and planetary balance: what orientations of the architectural, urban and landscape project are needed for an innovative management of resources?
