Braillard is the public signature of the Fondation Braillard Architectes, a Swiss public-interest institution registered in the Geneva commercial register under number CHE-106.150.779.
Its aim is to ensure the wider cultural dissemination of quality architecture and urban planning, in the tradition of the Braillard architects (Maurice, Pierre and Charles). Based at rue Saint-Léger 16, Geneva, the Foundation pursues its main missions:

• protecting and showcasing the architectural heritage, in particular the Braillard archives;
• promoting architectural, urban and landscape culture;
• supporting and carrying out studies and research on the built environment, in line with the principles of sustainable development and ecological transition.

The Fondation Braillard Architectes acknowledges the current challenges that a rapidly transforming world poses to the built environment, a subject open to many forms of expertise, practices and professions. Among these is architecture — at once an art, a craft and a discipline. Its methods, processes, projects and achievements form a disciplinary corpus necessary for shaping future, ecologically sustainable ways of life.

Public role

The Fondation Braillard Architectes contributes to the conservation and enhancement of the architectural heritage, in particular that of the 20th century, and regularly organises public events aimed at expert, informed and general audiences. Since 2015, the bulk of this activity has been part of the research and culture programme The Eco-Century Project®. Available in several communication formats, this programme aims to raise awareness among the stakeholders concerned about the relationship between the built environment and environmental issues. For several years, the Foundation has thus played the role of a “bridge” between different circles: the professions of the built environment, higher education, the State, civil society, cultural institutions, the public(s), etc.
