Physicist by training, Pierre Hollmuller holds a PhD in Science from the University of Geneva, as well as a Master of advanced studies in energy from EPFL. His research and teaching career focuses on the analysis of innovative energy systems, in actual condition of use. He is currently head of the Energy Systems Group at the University of Geneva, and coordinates a pluri-annual Research Partnership with SIG (public energy utility). In parallel to his academic career, he has participated in the foundation and development of several NGOs in the field of energy and community empowerment. His credo, in the field of energy as elsewhere, is that efficiency is the fruit of an iterative process of innovation and training, which needs to be supported by objective analysis and documentation. He has coordinated some 20 research projects and has over 100 publications to his credit.
